Cameron is a research scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Cancer Centre. He is a bioinformatic specialist with expertise in translational oncology, clinical genomics, biomarkers, data science, computational biology, precision medicine, and solid tumor biology. He develops custom approaches for biomarker development and biological discovery using circulating tumour DNA, and implements these tools in clinical studies to improve outcomes in men with prostate cancer.
Currently completing his PhD, he has published 6 co-authored and first-author articles (16 articles total), presented at premier industry conferences (AACR, EACR, PCF), lead multiple international projects and supervised trainees, and have accumulated over $286,000 in competitive awards.
Core skills and specializations:
➤ Next Generation Sequencing assay design and optimization, bioinformatic pipeline development, and results interpretation. Proficiency with all standard NGS analysis tools and cancer genomics software.
➤ Data science and statistics. Exploratory data analysis and machine-learning via daily use of Python (SciPy ecosystem: pandas/matplotlib/scikit-learn). Survival analysis, custom high-dimensional data visualization, advanced shell-scripting and HPC environments.
➤ Clinical study design and analysis. Clinical oncology expertise focused on prostate cancer treatment, clinical trials, genomic testing, and practical incorporation of clinico-genomic biomarkers into clinical care.
